The bridge of the nose
Nasal bones · os nasale
Two small bones that form the bony bridge at the top of your nose.
What it does
The two small nasal bones meet in the midline to form the top of the bridge of your nose. Below them, most of the nose's shape comes from flexible cartilage. They are thin and project forward, making them easy to injure.
Surprising fact
The nasal bones are the most frequently broken bones in the face, mainly because they stick out and are so thin.
Why it matters
A broken nose usually heals well, but if the bones heal out of line they can change the shape of your nose or narrow one side of the airway.
