The subclavius
Subclavius · musculus subclavius
A small muscle under the collarbone that steadies it.
What it does
The subclavius runs from the first rib to the underside of the collarbone. It pulls the collarbone down and in, steadying the joint with the breastbone, and cushions the vessels beneath it if the collarbone breaks.
