The palm arteries
Superficial and deep palmar arches · arcus palmaris
Two arches of arteries in your palm that feed the fingers.
What it does
The radial and ulnar arteries join in the palm to form two loops, a superficial arch just under the skin of the palm and a deep arch on the palm bones. Branches from them run to each finger.
Surprising fact
Because the arches connect both forearm arteries, blood can reach every finger by two routes.
Why it matters
That backup means a deep cut that severs one artery in the hand rarely leaves the fingers without blood, though it can bleed heavily.
