Lymph nodes of the chest
Thoracic lymph nodes
Immune filters around the airways, heart and oesophagus.
What it does
Lymph nodes cluster where the windpipe divides, around the bronchi and beside the oesophagus and breastbone. They filter lymph from the lungs and chest wall, and they turn grey-black over time in people who breathe smoky or polluted air.
