The iliacus

Iliacus · musculus iliacus

A fan-shaped muscle lining the inside of the pelvis that lifts the thigh.

What it does

The iliacus fills the large hollow on the inside of each hip bone. Its fibres join the tendon of the psoas major, forming the iliopsoas, the strongest muscle for lifting the thigh forward.
